The things we do for our Dahlias...

I am super motivated this year to grow a garden full of beautiful Dahlia's. Last year something was eating them, and I think our soil was much too rocky. They looked like I had taken the weed-whacker to them. So this year I raised the flower bed and added a soil/manure mixture. I got a bit too excited and planted them this last Sunday (they were rooting in the bag..ahh) just in time for a frost warning. Yeah me! My maternal instinct kicked in and I could not stand for them to freeze. So what do you get when you have an old sheet and a newspaper? Answer: See below!

This bed is against our garage, which I must add does not lean anymore, thanks to my amazing husband. It is going to get new clothes this summer (i.e. siding and paint).
I wanted to show the "before" of my first ever garden. Everything is planted, now we are just encouraging everything to grow, grow, grow!!!
